The Olympic Games of 1992 have had a lasting effect on hotels in Barcelona. Old hotels were renovated, many hotels came into existence. There are a lot of hotels of all classes, however, the focus has become more on middle-class hotels.

Many low-cost hotels can be found in the district Barri Gòtic in the city centre. Next to the Ramblas, it is usually not so favourable, even though they are fantastically central in location.

Hotel Prices

A significant difference between peek season and low season can hardly be found, because the city is always busy through tourism, fairs and other events.

During fair times hotels close to a fair are a bit more expensive. This "fair supplement" you do not need to pay if you are prepared to stay just a bit outside the city centre. Barcelona has a very well-developed public transport system with buses and an underground, so you can quickly find virtually any place in Barcelona.
Note to the fair GSM: Would you like to book a hotel during this fair, which takes place in February, we advise you to make your reservation at least 9-12 months in advance. Hotels in Barcelona and surrounding areas during these four days are fully booked.
