Barcelona lends itself as a travel destination throughout the year.

From April to June, the climate is the most pleasant. At this time of the year, most of the tourists are travelling to Barcelona. Other popular dates are the Holy Week and the days between Christmas and New Year.

In August, it is often very hot. The locals then flee during the holidays to the country side or to the beach and Barcelona is not quite so lively any more. However, especially during this time, many open-air festivals and events such as "Grec" take place.

The quietest time, certainly, is in the winter between December and the end of February. However, particularly cold winter days have their charm, when the air is very clear and one has a great clear view from Tibidabo to the long distant hinterland.

Climate

In Barcelona, there is a temperate of Mediterranean climate. In July and particularly in August the thermometer climbs to often over 30° C. The high humidity can be quite uncomfortable; a fresh breeze form the sea helps to refresh things a bit.

In summer, light clothing is sufficient, but one should not forget that the nights, after a hot day, can be quite cold.

If you travel in autumn, you should necessarily take with you an umbrella and raincoat. In parts, this applies for the spring season. But you will be untroubled by continuous rain all day long.

November is pleasantly dry and sunny. The rest of the winter is rarely really cold and the thermometer seldom falls below 0° C.
