Barceloneta is the smallest quarter of Barcelona and is part of a triangle between the Old town, the Port Vell, the old port, and the Platja de Barceloneta. North of the zoo is the limit of this district.

Lots of restaurants are close to the marina, at the brick house where today the Museu d'Historia de Catalunya is, the Museum of the History of Catalonia.

Barceloneta was created as housing for the residents, who have lost their home because of the construction of the citadel in 1753. Today, barceloneta is very popular because of the beach promenade, its many restaurants and its very special atmosphere on the streets.
