Cable cars in Barcelona - Telefèric and Aeri

Tickets for the cable cars - Grandiose views of the city, harbor and sea

You can go up Montjuïc with two cable cars: with the Telefèric de Montjuïc from the city area directly to the Castell and with the Aeri from the beach of Barceloneta via the Old Port to Montjuïc. With both you will experience a unique panorama. Get a bird's-eye view of the entire city of Barcelona.

Whether Telefèric or Aeri, from the modern and historic cabins you can see the most important buildings such as the Sagrada Familia or the Torre Glòries, the port and the sea.

Highlights of the Telefèric and the Aeri

Both the Telefèric and the Aeri offer beautiful views of the city, the harbor and the sea. If you are coming from the old town or are traveling by metro anyway, we recommend the Telefèric. If you are on the beach or in the Barceloneta district, then we recommend the Aeri.

Directions to the cable cars

Telefèric

The valley station of the Telefèric cable car is the "Parc de Montjuïc" station (Avinguda Miramar, 30, see also the map). From there, the modern cabins of the Telefèric take you to the mountain peak and to the Castell.

The Parc de Montjuïc station can be reached directly through the Barcelona metro network: from the Paral·lel metro station (L2, L3) you can take the Funicular de Montjuïc to the top and then you can transfer to the cable car. You can use the Funicular and the Metro for free with the Hola BCN Ticket and the Barcelona Card.

With the Bus Turístic you can reach the lower station of the Telefèric via the bus station of the same name "Telefèric de Montjuïc".

Here you can download the map (pdf, approx. 2 MB).

Aeri

To get to the Aeri, you can get off at the Barceloneta metro station on line L4. From there it is about 1,000 meters to the San Sebastián Tower (Paseo Juan de Borbón). It's very simple: walk towards the sea, you'll see the tower on the outskirts of the Barceloneta district.

Why take the cable car up Monjuïc

If you are staying in Barcelona for several days, Montjuïc is definitely one of the "must-see" places.

Of course you can also walk up there. It's a bit uphill here and a large part of it through parks. In total you need about 30 minutes. The path is not particularly strenuous for experienced walkers, but some paths are not particularly beautiful. Taking one of the Telefèric or Aeri cable cars is the complete opposite: it's comfortable and you have a truly spectacular view. We believe that if you save yourself the walk and take the cable car, you have real added value.
